Tyler "Spartan" Ganza is a player for Reciprocity. He is known for his time with teams such as Renegades, Team Liquid, and eLevate.

Biography

Tyler "Spartan" Ganza is from Lacey Township, New Jersey. When he was four or five years old, he began playing video games, and some of his first titles included Super Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong before starting Halo.

Halo 3

Spartan first appeared in the competitive scene at MLG Meadowlands 2009 where he finished 3rd in the Gamebattles FFA Arcade.

Halo 4

His first event was the Halo 4 Exhibition at MLG Dallas 2012 where he finished top 64 as a member of Supernatural with Tripolar, Status and SkimpyTheElf. He attended AGL 4 and 5 as a member of Adventure Time getting an impressive 2nd place at AGL 4 and finishing top 8 at AGL 5. He then joined Pure for AGL 6 on route to a 4th place finish. He attended AGL 7 Knoxville with Siege, SickStory and Showtime calling themselves Hold Your Applause finishing 9th-12th. He finally joined Severence alongside his current teammate Gabriel for AGL 9 Atlanta where he would bounce back to secure an impressive second place finish.

He also competed in the Halo 4 Global Championships making top 16.

Halo 2 Anniversary

Spartan joined Fatal Ambition before the Halo Championship Series season one started. He placed 3rd in the second preseason cup, and 3rd in the HCS Cup #1 beating Str8 Rippin. Fatal Ambition then competed at Iron Games Columbus 2014 where he finished 9th and at the Griffball Championship taking first place. He then joined Elevate for UGC St. Louis where the team placed 7th. They improved slightly at Gamers For Giving 2015 taking home 6th place. Spartan and the eLevate squad closed out HCS Season 1 with a 7-8th finish at the PAX East 2015 finals.

On March 15, Spartan announced his free agent status, confirming that he had left eLevate.[1] He joined eXcellence in April 2015. eXcellence placed top 12 at Iron Games Atlanta 2015.[2] Spartan soon left eXcellence to team with Ninja, Aries and Shooter. First competing as "The Other Guys", the team was quickly acquired by Team Liquid. Spartan and Team Liquid finished 7th at their first event together, HCS Indianapolis. They followed up with a top 8 finish at the HCS Season 2 Finals. Halo 2: Anniversary served as a breakout game for Spartan, garnering him significant attention as he competed and fared well against top-tier players.

Halo 5

Early in the pre-Halo 5 offseason, Spartan, Aries and Shooter were dropped from Team Liquid. On August 31st, it was announced that he and Shooter were joining Winterfox alongside Ryanoob and Arkanum.[3] Spartan was officially released by Winterfox in January 2016. He eventually found himself on a Renegades roster alongside Ninja, Victory X and StelluR, after many team changes in a short time period. Renegades' first event was the X Games Aspen 2016 invitational, where they finished 4th.

Spartan and friends came out strong at Worlds, upsetting the highly favored Evil Geniuses in group stage. They went 3-0 in their group and drew Team Allegiance in the quarterfinals. Despite going up 2-0 in the series, Allegiance would battle back, winning the series 3-2 and ending Renegades' night with a top 8 finish. Soon after worlds, Spartan would part ways with the hyped Renegades squad and scrim with multiple teams during the off season, eventually finding his place on Team Liquid alongside StelluR, APG, and UnLegit.

After qualifying to attend the Burbank LAN at ESL Studios in California, APG would unfortunately get into a car accident on the way to the airport. At the Pro League qualifiers, APG played with a concussion. Due to this, Team Liquid was unable to qualify for the pro league. Following Burbank Spartan, StelluR , and UnLegit would have to tag in their coach Assault to play for APG who decided it was best to take a break to recover. In the Last Chance Qualifier Spartan, StelluR, UnLegit, and Assault would win every match to qualify for the first season of the HCS Pro League. During online play the team struggled to even gather a win. Eventually they would part ways with Assault and replace him with Danoxide . Even with Dan on the team, they would still struggle but eventually close out the season strong with a win against Renegades . They attended the Summer Season Finals to compete in relegations and would sweep their way to keep their pro league spot for the Fall Season 2016.

After the season ended, Team Liquid would decide to keep ONLY Spartan on the roster and bring on Commonly , Penguin, and Rayne . The team would attend HCS Orange County and place 3rd. Following that event they would attent HCS Las Vegas 2016 and finish in 2nd after losing game 7 in the grand finals against Team_EnVyUs . Throughout the Online Pro League during the HCS Fall Season 2016, Team Liquid finished in 3rd place guaranteeing themselves a spot at the HCS Fall Season 2017 Finals alongside Optic Gaming , Team EnVyUs , and Str8 Rippin .

At the HCS Fall Season 2016 Finals, Team Liquid would match against Team EnVyUs in the winners bracket round 1 and lose the series where they would face against Str8 Rippin who lost their round 1 match to Optic Gaming. Team Liquid would go down 0-3 in the Best of 7 against Str8 Rippin but Liquid was able to rally back to a game 7. During game 7 Spartan would go huge with a Killing Frenzy on The Rig Slayer to win the series clinching the win. They would move on to play against Team EnVyUs in the losers bracket finals where they would lose, taking home a 3rd place finish.

During the off season following the Fall Season Finals, Spartan would be released from Team Liquid eventually finding his spot on Team Allegiance alongside Commonly , Suspector , and Danoxide .

Attending HCS St. Louis the team would finish 7/8th place losing to Inconceivable in the losers bracket.

Following St. Louis, the team would replace Danoxide with Tripppey. This team would attend HCS Las Vegas 2017 to attempt to qualify for the Halo World Championship 2017 where they would eventually lose to Panda and former teammate Danoxide for top 6, finishing the event in 7/8th place. Following Vegas, Spartan and Team Allegiance would then try to qualify for the last North American spot for HWC 2017, but would unfortunately be knocked out of the tournament by Splyce . Therefore Spartan and Team Allegiance did not qualify for Halo World Championship 2017 ending their run that season.

Following the Halo World Championship 2017 , Spartan would join Cratos , Str8 Sick , and Suspector for the HCS Pro League Summer 2017 Season. After the announcement of their roster, Ronin would acquire the roster, who would represent them for the Summer Season. The team would attend HCS Daytona 2017 and place 7/8th after losing to Str8 Rippin in the loser's bracket.

During the Online Pro League Season, Ronin struggled and were only able to acquire one win, finishing the season 1-7. During the transfer period, the roster would decide to part ways with Cratos and acquire EL_TowN . Spartan, alongside his teammates would attend Dreamhack Atlanta 2017 and would play through the Open Bracket and attempt to keep their Pro League spot for the upcoming Fall Season. They would sweep the open bracket and secure their pro league spot, moving on to the championship bracket. The team would end up finishing 7/8th place losing to former teammate Cratos for top 6.

In between the Summer and Fall Pro League Seasons, Spartan would be dropped by Ronin . Options looking slim, it was looking like Spartan would have to find a team in the Open Circuit and would face not competing in Pro League for the first time since it's conception. However, Team Liquid would part ways with Ace close to the roster lock for the 2017 Fall Season, forcing them to find a fourth quickly. The players on Team Liquid decided to acquire Spartan and would compete in the Fall Season 2017 with him as their fourth.

Alongside StelluR , Eco , and Penguin ; Spartan and team would finish in 3rd place, securing themselves the 3rd seed going to Dreamhack Denver 2017 . At the event the team would impress many people who expected them to play much worse. On Saturday of the tournament, The team would 3-0 Evil Geniuses for top 6 in the winners bracket. They would then lose to Optic Gaming in the Winners bracket semi-finals. In the losers bracket quarter finals, they would play against Infused for top 4 and take the win 3-1 for their last match of the day. On Sunday, the team would start off by facing Team EnVyUs in the losers bracket semi-finals and sweep them 4-0 advancing to the losers bracket finals to face off against Splyce for a spot in the Grand Finals against Optic Gaming . Spartan and squad would sweep Splyce in an impressive 4-0 series and move on to the grand finals where they would eventually lose to Optic Gaming 1-4, finishing the event in 2nd place.

After the 2017 Fall Season, Eco and StelluR would part ways with Penguin and Spartan to Join Splyce. Penguin and Spartan would then join forces with Mikwen and SnipeDown . Spartan and Penguin would leave Team Liquid as well as Snipedown and Mikwen leaving Team EnVyUs . The team would then be acquired by a brand new start-up organization, Reciprocity . Reciprocity would future this team as their very first team in any eSports title.
